Which Ukulele is for me?

I've recently fallen in love with the Ukulele, seriously, I want one.

I'm looking at spending about ~1.5k on the most.
Planning on learning it quite seriously so I want something worth while sound and cosmetic quality wise. I'm not familiar with Uke brands.

Looks are a plus of course, some of those guys are beautiful.

I don't know brands of ukuleles, but I've seen a few Fenders around locally (even one with a pickup). Traditionally built with Koa or other acacias (like Australian blackwood) - but most acacias are way too expensive these days, so look out for mahogany in your price range.

I've done some research in the meantime and the brand Kala is apparently very good for this price range. I've read numerous reviews that the fenders haven't perfected the art as well as the older companies in ukes yet and that they are a bit overpriced for the quality. They are pretty though.

I think I'm going to buy a Kala KA-T. Their sound is awesome from what I've listened to, blows the fender koa uke away IMO sound wise.

If it were I, I'd also have a look at the Tanglewood offerings. They seem to get good reviews on Ukehunt, are goedkoop and they look pretty snazz.

Shipping was $88, which I think is reasonable, guitar was $88 as well. Coming down to ~R1500 (excl. import tax, I'm guessing it's gonna be around R200).

Other places you can try is eBay, however I found the best price for this one on Hawaii Music Supply.
