Any idea what wood this SG is?

Bought an old SG to refinish and busy sanding it down - can anyone tell from this image what wood it is? (Sorry, I took it on my phone...)

AFAICT from the pic it's mahogany.

I knew I could count on you Alan! Mahogany was my guess cos the grain is very straight. So mahogany is not a bad wood for a refinish project, right? Might do another natural finish...

SGs are supposed to be cherry red stain on mahogany, so here's your ticket to a lot of sanding and a classic result 8)

If you want an even surface to stain, you need to fill the pores that are found in mahogany.

I miss my Gibson SG which was 'Worn Brown' so its between that and the cherry...
