Wow that is really awesome home made guitar, kind of inspired me.

I've been doing some research for a while now and have decided to finally build my first guitar, going to keep it simple using african mahogany as body and neck wood and rosewood for fretboard.

Manfred, what'll you be using to do the routing? And as a truss rod?

Oh and do you have all the goodies for fretting?

Gonna order anything from Stew Mac? I was looking at those carbon fiber inserts, have heard good thing.

I'm actually making a body for a holiday project ? Some kinda SG Special thing ?

Yeah i have been looking at stewmac for a while now, but still waiting for the rand to go down, as a martin truss rod will cost me R300 in total.
I bought frets from bothners.
Still have to get the wood.

But my first project is going to be a simple one, more just a learning experience.
So this is going to be a full on hand made guitar, i got someone who can help me with the routing.

I found a engineering workshop that can make me a truss rod for real cheap.

I see, seems we're looking at doing the same thing. Got a contact up here for ash, mahogony, maple, walnut, so wood's not an issue for me.

Oh wow, I skipped the martin truss, didn't seem to be what I was looking for, but I'll definately get that one instead ?

the only thing i need is a truss rod, all the other stuff i can get locally.
Maby when i'm doing a bigger project, i'll order some better parts and tools from them.

like the ones you hold in your hand, or the big machine one?
You can get them for real cheap even second hand from cash converters, although i would NOT recommend buying it second hand.

Oh yea that's a good idea, a good friend of mine runs an industrial machining place and offered to help with some stuff a while back...

O ok I see, I was planning to buy tuners and a whole bunch of stuff soon and then another bigger order in Feb.

Not sure just yet, found a decent one at Makro, but I'm not interested in second hand stuff.

In other guitar forums I've seen a lot of talk about this guy being a foney since there's inconsistency as to his not having access to all sorts of things (including internet, digital camera etc.). It would appear it's an all-american fellow.
