Look, he obviously has the chops (the bit there at 2:50 proves it) but I can't say that I find this kind of "music" very enjoyable, maybe for the primary reason that it isn't really music. It's more like a study of a certain technique or an exercise. Would have gone down great as part of a song but to build an entire song around it is a bit much.
Composition is king. There are a lot of hotshot guitar players around, but they're not always good composers.
I think the chops on display thing works better in a live situation. At home with a CD or watching a youtube clip we tend to get more logical, more analytical, we don't have the buzz of the audience and the kick of seeing whatever it is rolled out before your very eyes in real time. I find quite a lot of things enjoyable live that I would not enjoy on CD.
With limits though. I eventually get bored by chops, chops, more chops and nothing but chops in a live situation, but it takes longer.
