TJ's Acoustic Music Club - Open Mic night - Thursday May 31st

I'm putting in very early notice so that anybody who is considering dipping their toes into the stream of live performance has plenty of time to prepare.

TJs provide a small PA (adequate for the room being used) microphones and leads to go between mixer and guitar.

You need to bring your guitar / mandolin / fiddle / whatever and enough material to fill a spot of maximum 15 minutes (you can play shorter if you want).

Admission R25. Very friendly, encouraging core audience. Lots of parking. Drinks and pub grub available.

First act goes on at 20:00, evening closes at 22:30.

I will be hosting the night (which means I get up and say "A big hand for .....") and so will definitely be there.

At the open mic night its understood that performers may be nervous or have less chops than Guthrie Govan ? The club and the core audience KNOW that its open mic, and many of them like that its open mic and are warm towards the amateur duffers like me. So that's not a very good excuse ?

? contrary to perception I have actually attended a grand total of 4 TJ sessions but have remained incognito ... ? Granted, the last one was when Neil Solomon and Wayne Cochlan played which was an awesome performance.

Ah! You do know that the open mic nights are not in that big room with the octagonal roof? Still at Marks Park, but a smaller, friendlier room.

As reported I'll be there, though maybe not performing as I'm recovering from bronchitis.

I'm also hosting a formal show (all performers invited) for TJ's on June 21st, and I'm hoping to "discover" somebody at open mic night to fill the last shot on that bill (which will include at least two other GFSAers).

My thanks to Costafonix for pitching and playing (along with his partner in crime, Claude). Clearly they were not new to live performance.

There's been enough GFSAErs at TJs now that we could put a whole GFSA night together (and have an act or two on standby).
