Mariann's Ibby AFS75 archtop has a Bigsby and I'm thinking of taking the Bigsby off as she never uses it and fitting a fixed tailpiece.

Any comments on the Stewmac replacement above or can I do better. The Stewmac one does look a bit flimsy.... :-\ :-\

Also...The Bigsby on the guitar has four screw holes with a 5th hole for the strap peg. the stewmac one has three screw holes.

Oh, you can do much better than those, which are more for the real cheapy flat tops.

Why take the bigsby off? They look great and don't suffer from the problem of bending strings out of tune accidentally while resting you palm on the bridge.

What do you expect to get out of it? It will not be a whole lot lighter, but maybe a little. It will not sound a whole lot better, probably not audibly better on those pups. It will definately not fit the same holes or make the guitar look any better. Imho if you want to upgrade, go for the nut and pups, that Bigsby is fine where it is.

LOL.. ? ?....nice thought........I must agree that the Gigsby does look very sexy on the guitar as is...... :-\......OK......Bigsby stays........

Guess we will look at a hardtail semi hollow sometime.......GAS......335.....more GAS........

I do want to go a little more rock with this Ibby so I'm thinking of some Rebel 90's as a PUP upgrade......especially since the colour is metallic electric blue.....
