Greetings all
The name's Bob, been playing for 20 + years but only recently began to approach an intermediate understanding of the instrument. Learnt stuff parrot-fashion for ages but never understood why it sounded the way it did (still enjoyed it though) Nowadays it's more about getting a better understanding of the fretboard, a little bit of improvising (early days with that but still completely cool when you get it right)
My Gear is as follows -
- Ibanez Artwood AW400 bogstandard dreadnought - had it nearly 8 years now and it still sounds awesome.
- Ibanez Artwood AW1500 electroacoustic - A beautiful instrument which I am still getting to know.
- American Deluxe Telecaster 3 colour sunburst, maple neck 8) - my most recent and most prized (and hopefully final for now) addition to the collection
- Traveler Speedster - travel guitar on which I practice when I am on the move - using my Tascam MP-GT1 / Boss Micro BR
- Ibanez Troubadour 35 Watt acoustic amp
- Ibanez Toneblaster 50 Watt amp
- Boss RC20XL Loopstation - an indispensible practice tool......GET ONE.....NOW!!! You won't need any friends after you get one of these ?
My Playing Styles are mainly acoustic fingerstyle blues and folksy stuff. I have dabbled a bit with electric guitars in the past but never quite enjoyed it until a friend let me play his telecaster and showed me a few tricks, which blew me away. I got a Squire Telecaster, which I played for a year until I could afford my dream electric guitar, an American deluxe Telecaster, which I recently bought. The Squire Affinity Series Telecaster has an awesome sound and playability for a budget range guitar and is still highly recommended in my books but the real deal is just that....the real deal. I have played Strats and they are cool but something about the Telecaster's tone (OK, and it's looks too) just blows me away. Life is now complete.
I go to lessons when I can get the time as it always helps to have an experienced coach to help me make sense of the books I can't seem to stop myself buying. And he gives me excellent practice tips...stuff you just don't get in the books.
Glad to have stumbled upon this local forum and looking forward to learning from all of you.
Cheers
Bob
