These are my things

Greg

Bob asked to see some of my guitars in my introduction thread so I thought that I might as well open up a thread here.

Also, I'd like to mention that I've never actually specifically chosen an orange guitar, it just happened to be that the ones with the right sound and the right price were orange. The orange has definitely grown on me! ?

These are my things, from top to bottom:

Fender Highway One Stratocaster
Epiphone Emperor Swingster
Gretsch G5120
Gretsch G6120-DSW

Wow! Sweet. Love the 6120. Gorgeous.

Bob-Dubery

Yeah... I got a bit of a soft spot for Gretsch guitars.

The 6120 with the Dynas is just pure awesome. It also plays like a dream! The only issue I have with it is that it makes my other guitars look, feel and sound cheap!

Good Stuff

Amazing how close the Epiphone is to the Getsch, just a stranger whammy bar?

It's a Chet-Atkins style thin arm and I must say that I really like it, the whammy on the 5120 feels a tad less solid, that one on the 6120 is supposed to be a replica of the early style ones and I LOVE the way that one feels.

The Epiphone actually has "Swingbuckers" which are coil-tapping pickups and with the flatwounds I have on at the moment it actually has a really nice fat tone, especially for the single line melodies I play in my Balkan band. It's based on the Joe Pass Emperor Jazz guitar bodies that Epiphone make but with a bigsby, I've found it to be a really versatile guitar and has a real nice feel.

Hi Greg...lovely guitars...even the pin-stripe one.
If there's one guitar I would like to get then it's the G -marked 6120...with Dynasonics like yours. Those are real iconic instruments.
Congrats on a nice collection.

Are you a rockabilly player ?

Beautiful toys. 8)

Greg! You are getting more interesting by the moment ? "Balkan" band? Do tell more - though perhaps not in this thread. Are you guys doing that wedding band stuff? I have a very, very slight acquaintance with that by dint of having watched some Ivo Papasov clips on youtube.

Greg

I replied to your guys posts in my "Hello!" thread here: http://tinyurl.com/d5kusfn

Thank you very much!

I did a lot of research before buying the 6120. I looked and listened to the FilterTrons (which I also love) and played on a few different Gretschs and after all of that I narrowed it down to three choices and in the end the 6120DSW ticket all the right boxes. Not to mention Eddie Cochran played one very similar! The Dynas are really what make the guitar so expressive and characterful, it's so responsive to my playing and I have so many options in the tone that it's become my guitar of choice for everything I play. It's both a financial, musical and sentimental investment that I'm sure will pay off forever.

An awesome collection! Doesn't do anything good for my Gretsch GAS, seeing things like this. ?
