Ok, so I decided to do a little A/B test.
Guitars:
1st clip: PRS Custom 22
2nd clip: Tokai LS-92
AMP: Same settings for both (in the interest of trying to maintain scientific validity ? )
Fractal Audio Axe Fx Standard
Marshall JCM800 Model
Mid boost pedal in front
Some reverb, delay and a peaking filter at about 900Hz to bring the whole thing "forward" a little bit
Listen to the PRS clip first so you can appreciate the difference.
Backing track used: = (converted to mp3 and reduced volume to try and get rid of clipping)
Recorded in Audacity in about an hour (so please don't shoot me about mistakes/volume differences - I tried to mix it all down to decent levels but was limited because of the backing track)
PRS
Tokai
Thoughts/opinions?
The PRS has always sounded great to me, and clean or with a modern high gain setting it still kills - squeals easily, plays like butter.
But this A/B really gave me a bit of a shock ???

Btw,
Neck pickup with tone knob rolled off to about 4 on both guitars for rhythm
Bridge for the leads

Well, thats quite interesting. Seems to me I'll have to get a Tokai then. Really, in my opinion, in that song in just sounded better
