...which I would highly recommend are -
- The Art of Solo Fingerpicking - Mark Hanson - Intermediate to Advanced level - some awesome, challenging, rewarding pieces which will take me months to learn - comes with a CD and all pieces include a good briefing covering recommendations on how to tackle various parts of the piece. Standard notation plus tablature in the book. I am only intermediate level (on a good day) and some of these pieces are far from easy for me, but when you finally get one right, and this takes a while for me, it is seriously rewarding.
- Blues Solos for Acoustic Guitar - Johnny Norris - Beginner to Intermediate - starts with some basic 12-bar riff/lick pieces and then moves on to progressively more challenging pieces with more advanced techniques. Each piece is a great example of acoustic blues and they all sound awesome so they make you want to practice the hell out of them. Also comes with a CD with an explanation of each piece and a performance of how each piece should sound. It also has standard notation and tablature in the book, with some excellent breakdowns of the techniques which must be mastered for each piece. This guy should really make a DVD!!!
These 2 are both fairly reasonably priced books which I feel are a must for any acoustic fingerstyle fanatic's library. Kalahari.net has them both. The material in these 2 books alone has definitely helped me improve my fingerstyle technique, and will still do so for years to come. Check them out.
