My Ibanez

Hi guys,

I need some of your expert opinion. I have an older Ibanez. I tried to find it on Google but I'm struggeling to find anything...
The Model number is MCT130-RD and it's made in Korea. The Serial number is 3021913. There is a picture in this thread: http://www.guitarforum.co.za/your-gear/gear-it%27s-not-gear-it%27s-family-!!/ (The red one at the bottom)

It's a nice guitar that I got about 2 years ago from a friend that decided he's not going to play anymore. It's not a bad guitar at all, but it's not really the guitar I want and between my other guitars this is not getting the attention it needs and I haven't played it in ages.

So, I want to know if it'll be worth it to hot rod this guitar or rather sell it of? If I sell it, what will be a good price? Is it actually worth something?

The CTs are basically Cort guitars with Ibanez on the headstock - and quite entry level Corts at that, Equivalent to the budget Cort Stat 2T. As such it's not worth upgrading or selling for large amounts of money - Probably only R800 or so (partly due to the Ibanez name on the headstock). May be worth more to keep as a beater or something to try different tunings on.

@ Alan.....were these manufactured that way?...just trying to get behind the cort/ibanez connection? ??? ???

Thanks Alan. I think I'll rather keep it then or give it to someone than sell it. Do Cort an Ibanez still do this sort of thing?

All the Korean Ibanez guitars were made by Cort (basically if any guitar was made in Korea it was made either by Cort or Samick). I'm not sure of the connection these days, but I suppose that the newer non-Jap Ibanez' may be made in Cort's factories in other countries.

Probably alot more cost effective for Ibanez to do that... and profitable for Cort...
