My wife bought this for me as a belated birthday present (ya gotta love a woman who not only buys you guitars but has good taste in them too). It's a Rickenbacker 310 ('80s model) in cream (or possibly just an aged white) with the "hi gain" pickups. We got it from a fellow forum member (not sure if he'd want me to mention who, so I won't). I asked MDS for express delivery to make sure it got here before the long weekend and they collected in JHB yesterday lunchtime and I got it at about 1:30 today (impressive!) - all for only R230 delivery (would have been about R130 with regular three day road freight). Not my first choice in colours and I can't see myself playing it for a whole gig 'cos of the skinny neck, but I'm pretty stoked with it. Plugged into the Mustang III (first time firing that up too), dialed up an AC30 and spent an hour pulling out all the Tom Petty and REM, etc. I could find in the dim recesses of my brain. Sounds wonderful so far. ? Must get some grown up strings on there though. ?

No. Ric have always used their own design pickups, unlike anything else. Basically three flavours: Toaster-tops, which are vintage output single-coils; Hi-gains, which are the same but hotter; and a humbucker. This guitar has the Hi-gains.
