Slash on acoustic

OK this guy truly is one of the greats! This performance was something like 2 years ago but I only saw the video just now. I've long resigned myself to the fact that Slash can do things on an electric guitar that I shouldn't even try to understand but now he does those same things on acoustic. Does he have monster strong fingers on his left hand or does het have a super ultra light gauge of strings on there?

True, I meant to comment on that as well. Apparently his vocal range spans four octaves! And it's a good voice, not just a low-high range.

He prob has really strong hands but my guess is that he uses 11 or 12 gauge strings on that guitar and he usually tunes to Eb. He certainly used to play 11 gauge tuned to Eb on electric. So that would explain the ease of bending ?

But you can almost sense that he wishes he had his LP rather than the acoustic for some of the lead bits

My kind of thread..... 8) I absolutely love the Slash/Myles combo.

As far as I know, he uses 11 guage strings. I also don't think he tunes down to Eb anymore.

I grew up guitar wise on slash and even after many years
of going to technical and out of it I still rate him
one of the best out there, and still one of my fav's.

You're absolutely right. That is exactly what Slash eats... for breakfast. ?

But seriously, I find nothing good about that SRV video. It's so typically SRV. A prolonged 12 bar blues progression with nothing but a bunch of 16th notes and the occasional 8th note run over pentatonic minor scales. Sure, it requires some technical prowess but it is completely devoid of any feeling, interpretation or class.

Nope, I'll have Slash's artistry any day before SRV's fretboard wanking.
