This great story was shared by a US-based friend of mine:
So, today my wife decided she needed some new strings for her acoustic, and wanted to try some Nanowebs. I took my 8 year old, who has been wanting to start playing guitar, and went to the nearest Guitar Center to get some strings for my wife.
Before we bought the strings, my son wanted to look at guitars, so we went around looking for a small-ish electric. We found a Squier Mini-Strat that he really liked, so I decided to get it for him. While he was trying out guitars, I wandered to the used amp section, and noticed a Mustang III for $199. After hearing everyone here talk about them, I had been considering one anyway, and this price was just too good! After verifying that it worked and had everything with it, I decided to grab that too.
The look on my wife's face was priceless when we got home. "I ask you to get me some strings, and you come home with a guitar and amp?"
It probably wouldn't have been so bad if we had remembered to get strings.
