Sansamp GT2 vs Sansamp Tri-AC pedal

Ok i've been using the GT2 for a few years now, and it rocks!!

Does anyone use the triac pedal?
IS it better than the GT2(it has similar functions)

would like to hear different opinions.

Not really sure about the effects for Guitar but for Bass the Bass driver DI and the Bass Driver Programmable are similar just with the one you can assign 3 different patches instead of one tone.

Perhaps the guitar version is similar?

I just read some things on the internet about the Tri-ac pedal, most reviews that you cant use it in front of a amp, and that it is meant for a PA or for recording.

I use my GT2 in front of my amp and sounds great.

Should the Tri-ac be infront of your amp or not(through clean channel)?

Owned all of them

GT-2 & Sansamp have best tones of the lot.
OLDER T21 stuff was warmer to my ears - the current generation isn't as nice.
Tri-AC is very versatile, but has less individual tonal tweaking per amp type (eg mic position & 2 gain structure choices)
GT-2 is still my fave of the lot !

And YES the Tri-AC sounds best into the power amp in/effect return of loop - much better !

you mean putting the pedal between the send and return?

So the Tri-ac doesn't come close to the GT2 tonewise ?

Gtr -> Tech21 -> effect return OR power amp in. (depends what your amp has - power amp in on a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for eg is preferable.

GT-2 is better for sure, but then no programming - in a perfect world ...

I ran the GT2 through my effects return(peavey delta blues) it sounds awesome and was a life changing event for me and did i mention it sounds awesome, cant believe i didn't try it earlier, geuss i was afraid i might do damage to the valves.

That brings up another question:
I noticed i dont have any volume control since it's running straight to the power amp and the valves make a vibration type sound(almost sounds like its ringing), is that OK, or should it be looked at?
(like when you play a G or a F# note)

Three ideas to pin-point the possible problem before taking a it to a tech:

1stly, in order to hear that noise I would assume you're running without a cab or the volume of the cab would overpower the noise.
That's a big NO NO. Always run a tube amp with a cab connected as the output sections needs the impedance of the speaker load.
Otherwise do no turn off standby. Running the head with incorrect impedance cabs causes popping noises or cracks to appear through the cab.

2ndly Running the head with the cab but the cab is in another room which makes hearing the buzzing easier, sounds normal to me ?

As far as I understand tubes are micro phonic. They should only make a noise or a high pitched buzzing sound of the actual note you're playing and only when you're playing it. Other than that it sounds like a problem.

3rdly you say on G or F#? It could possibly be the the resonating frequency of the table, cab, surface the head is sitting on or even the tube (unlikely as it should be a higher frequency depending on the octave)
Low G# (around 100-110Hz) normally makes my entire room, including windows, shake/vibrate when played.

Currently running a combo amp with a 15" speaker, i think it could be resonant frequencies causing the ringing sound on certain bass notes.
The amp has an output for a an external cab for 16ohms.

I dont think it's something serios, my ears is just to sensitive i think.

I've answered this one in another thread, so here it is:

That sounds like tube rattle rather than buzz i.e. the body of the tube rattles against the metal retaining clip that holds it into the socket because of vibrations from the speaker. Certain notes will cause more rattle than others (resonant frequencies). I know of of a few guys who've had that same problem. Easy enough to fix.

Go to a car spares place (like Invicta or The Bearing Man for instance) and buy some rubber O-rings (2mm Thick and 15mm diameter) that are heat rated for high temps (like 200 degress +). Put a couple on the offending valve(s) and it will stop the rattling.
