FatBoy I am looking for an acoustic guitar amp that can double as a vocal amp (I can play my acoustic through it and sing on a mic / jam on my Tele through my AD50VT and sing via this amp). Probably something like this http://www.muz.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73_222_193_196&products_id=917 It doesn't need major volume, no special fx etc, but a bit of reverb and maybe chorus would be nice. I have no experience with acoustic amps, so any help / opinions would be more than welcome. Thanks!
Martyr my knowledge on acoustics is limited(i can play it,that's it)...but aren't Johnson amps made for acoustics? maybe you should look into getting a PA system and plug you acoustic/vocals straight into that?
Squonk a PA might be the best option but could work out pricey. I have a Yamaha Stagepas 300 which is very portable but fully functional. I use it for vocals, guitar, electric, keyboard and you can even run your laptop through it.
FatBoy Mmm. I think that would be a bit overkill, sorry I forgot to mention, I'm not going to use it on stage, just for practice and jam sessions. So I like the idea of an acoustic amp with a mic input, or maybe a very portal mini PA type of thing?
Squonk I see what you mean, it would be overkill in price maybe, The Stagepas is tiny most probably the same size a 30 watt combo. Sound quality would be better though.
Renesongs +1 Stagepass I have it's big brother, the 500. Very portable, the amp/mixer clips into the back of the speaker, you can also use it as a mono unit making it the the lightest 250w amp I have ever carried plus you get reverb, compressor, limiters and 2 bands of equalization per channel
FatBoy Yea unfortunately way out of my price range at this stage, it sure does look like a good and simple system though, another entry on the GAS list!
Heath i am going to get leeched for this , check on gumtree for a 2nd hand pa / or goto hifi corp and get one of there busker pa's they cheap and sound good perfect for home use / or get a small mixer (behringer ub802) and some powered monitor speakers would also work well for practising at home . that way you goto your own channel for MIC and one for guitar and you can add a pc/mp3 player backing track channel . also can plug in an electric
FatBoy Yea I will be keeping an eye open for second hand items on gumtree, I won't touch anything from Hi-Fi Corp. I found a Johnson 15W one that could have worked, but it seems they have quite the amp making business. Getting support in SA might be tricky considering that. http://www.johnson-amp.com/exit.htm
AlanRatcliffe There are two Johnson's BTW - an Asian company who make cheap and nasty amps and guitars and the modelling amp guys who are out of business AFAIK. I agree with Tailon that a small PA is the way to go rather than a combo amp, which always seem to do horrible things to the vocals. The Stagepasses are nice, as are some of the Fender Passports, but more than a little overpriced IMO. Give me a PM with your budget if you want to go that way - I've got a couple of choice rackmount pieces (Peavey amp and Alesis mixer) lurking that I could let go cheap - then you'd just need some speakers.
pietersaayman I am using the Ibanez Troubadour TA35 output 35W@4Ω speaker 10" Ibanez "POWER JAM" Coaxial speaker ( controls Microphone - Volume Guitar Volume Chorus ON & OFF Switch / Speed / Depth Equalization Bass / Middle Frequency / Middle Level / Treble Reverb Level Master Volume jacks CD Input(RCA) / Guitar Input / Microphone Input(XLR) / Line Out / Foot Switch cabinet Closed-Back cabinet size 434(W) x 423(H) x 365(D) mm weight 14.2 kg I find it has awesome sound!!! FatBoy Ok thanks all, I now have an idea of what my options are. I will look at budget and consider my options. Thanks for all the input!

FatBoy Thanks, why do you say half of what I'm looking for? Seems like it has mic and guitar inputs to me?
