Mounting LEDs

Hey guys

Been thinking about this for a while. Need to mounting 2x 3mm legs, as compact as possible. The big standard mountings are not an opinion, they're around 10mm OD.

Anyone fiddled with this much? I am considering just glueing them into place, hot glue or CA. Just not sure how that'd handle going on the road..

Hmmm. You have lost me ???

Drill the holes so that you have a slight interference fit (need some force to push it into the chassis). Give the chas a rough sand around the hole with 60 grit or so and then use hot glue around the base of the LED once you've pushed it in. Will work fine.

Redesigning the chassis for the umpteenth time.. Would like to be 100% settled by the weekend. From there it's really not much work. It's been planned to death, so shouldn't have any hitches.

But I have decided to change my priorities a little..

Lost the plan I had with the socket holes and the entire back panel done >☹ Took me a long while to restart it all. Smart Mike had done everything nicely in an excel spreadsheet, which was lost when a harddrive crashed so aaaall my measurements had to be redone.

You can also solder the LED's to a small piece of Veroboard and glue the board to the inside of the chassis with epoxy. The board will give a larger area for the glue to take hold.
