Vocal Effects Processors

Hey guys, my bands vocalist birthday is coming up and we're thinking of buying her a vocal effect processor. I watched a few videos of the TC Helicon and it really lighten ups your voice and also has a really nice anti-feedback system.

Anyone know anything of these things?

I was also looking at more pedals that included effects like echo, chorus etc. and they're very nice - but kinda pricey. Any alternatives to this in the same price range that can do more without compromising quality?

I picked up the guitarist's version today, which my lead singer used to use. They're excellent units, pricey but very high quality, well worth the money.

theres a few on Gumtree going for dirt cheap,eg Digitech VX300 for R1K....
Digitech is owned by Harmon,for delays and reverbs you cant go wrong as they share their R&D and technologies/IC chips etc....
My guess the reason being,most guitarists opt for a dedicated guitar fx,and not many vocalists invest in a dedicated fx,
the specs are the same,its normaly just the presets that are different,and who uses presets anyway?
just google the models for reviews and specs....

The only thing (aside from poverty) stopping me from Getting a TC Voicelive 2 Extreme is the fact I can't sing. ? I still want one though...

AFAIK, the only ones worth looking at are the Vocalist and the TC-Helicon units. The Vocalists come in at more affordable prices and are maybe a bit easier to use, while the TC units are better sounding (with more natural sounding harmonies and more realistic formants). Arguably the TC are catching up on the usability side too.

Both have a range of units from desktop through floor to rack: some designed for keyboard players (harmonies keyed from MIDI), some specifically for guitarists; some for live use, some for studio. So take the time to familiarise yourself with the ranges and decide which models suit your needs best.

BTW - it looks like the Vocalists are not DigiTech any more - Harmon seem to have split them off into their own range, keeping DigiTech for guitar products.

Are there any small units with only 'verb/delay and maybe compression? Main thing I'd like would be the possibility of using slap-back echo on some tunes.

It really helps when you don't have your own sound engineer and are at the mercy of whoever holds the knob turning power.

My sister just picked up a Voicelive 2. Absolutely fantastic pedal! Even better, I can now extol the virtues of tape delay to someone in my family ?

Thanks for the links. Problem is I'd probably now want at least two of those pedals. Doesn't seem efficient in digital effects. Is there a TC Electronics Custom Shop? ?

? If the Nova Series is anything to go by, by the time you have a couple of their pedals, you might as well have bought the big multi-effect version (The Voicelive 2 in this case). That way you can also avoid repeated A/D and D/A conversions.

That's what I figured. Problem is I'd only use one or two effects ever, but they'd come from different effects "realms". So singles would miss out. Multis would have a lot of redundant stuff that I'd never use.

The exact reason I don't like multi-effects as well. Also, they are sometimes a bit more complicated than turning 3 knobs and hitting a button.
