Gear I liked at Frankfurt Musikmesse 2012

Taken with my Galaxy S2, which does not react well to light sources behind the subject matter. Sorry, I ran out of baggage space for a real camera. :-[

I've left out anything my own company sells to keep within the forum rules.

James Trussart Guitars

Flaxwood Guitars. Great sounding, extremely playable and green (the 2nd one from the left AND the construction methods). ? I didn't take a photo, but the backs of these guitars are actually metal with little holes/ perforations around the edges - sort of like a resonator. The Finnish to English language barrier made it hard to understand what the metal back was about, but I gather it is for extra resonance. And who doesn't love lipstick pickups and P90s? ?

Some Custom Shop Fenders. The purple burst flame maple Strat had some utterly incredible figuring on the neck and an eye-popping EUR7376.81 Price Tag. This was on a wall of 40 Custom Shop guitars and basses.

Mad Professor only board. Yes please. 8)

Ibanez FR320. A bit of a departure for Ibanez. Body shape a bit reminiscent of the Manson guitars.

EVH 5150 III 50W amp. Very impressed with the rock tones in this thing. The guy playing was on break from the Taylor stand and he was rather good, so that might have had some influence. ?

This is an Ibanez I could see myself playing. I really like the shape, layout, colour, actually the general overall look 8)

The Flaxwood guitars look a lot like EBMM guitars, more specifically the John Petrucci models.

I feel the same way. Really interesting guitar for us non-shredders and non-metalheads from Ibanez. Should be quite affordable as well.

The tone totally surprised me, but what interested me at first was the looks. Definitely very sexy.

I don't know about that. The bodies of the EBMMs Petruccis are smaller than the Flaxwoods. The actual shape perhaps doesn't translate as well from the original angle, but front-on they are quite different to the EBMM IMO.

The FR series have actually been available for a long time. They are just not as well known as the other guitars in Ibanez's line. I was looking at getting one about 3 or 4 years ago. The price then was really good. Prestige parts + assembly and a very nice included case.

That was the first time I've ever seen one. It was also the only FR model on their stand that I saw, so I assumed it was a new standalone model. Thanks for that. I'll do some research.

It's a photo of the Music Man booth at the show. Seems to display OK on my machine.
