Regarding my guitars...

...I may not have the best but one very funny issue I have when picking a guitar, and thinking back I have not owned a guitar that was different in this regard, is a purely cosmetic issue. I like a guitar where the tuners on the headstock is split 3 on one side and 3 on the other.I know it does nothing to playability or anything.

Do any of you have such weird things you want your gear to comply with before buying? ...or am I weird? ?

For a long time I hated those huge tuning pegs that come on Fender basses. They've grown on me now, but for the two basses I have owned, I didn't even consider any that had those tuning pegs... 0_0

Aesthetics are very important to me as well. I know some people will buy a guitar if it plays great, even if it looks like dung. Me, I won't pick up a guitar that I don't like the look of. Silly, yes, but that's how I am. For example, I like Ibanez guitars, and to me they play well, but I don't like their "sharp edges" on the sides of the body. Much prefer the subtler looks of the Strats, with the rounded edges.

That being said, I have considered a Dean Razorback before. Guess it depends on what look I'm going for ?

Watched a metal band last night, guy used a Goldtop Les Paul. Hardrock band before them, guitarist has a Custom Goldtop Fender Tele with humbuckers. You should be able to pull off the look without a pointy black guitar ?

[/quote] @ hammeron, well just last week i had a gibson 57 classic humbucker pup fitted into neck position of my tele . . . For fat mellow clean jazz tone ? but the tech who wired it up is a metal player and tested it thru a driven tube amp stack to see if it worked think you'll like that setup it was huge and ballsy and that was just the neck pup if you fitted a humbucker in bridge . . . . Say no more .

I love the look of Explorers, and generally I prefer headstocks with all the pegs on one side.

Even better when the headstock is angled downwards (like the Gibson ones) ?
