NOGD- MIJ '83 Ibanez Roadstar II RS-125

Got this from a guy on gumtree for a good price, its a laminated ash body with a 1 piece maple neck (with skunk stripe though...so i guess its technically 2 pieces in that sense...) and super 70 pickups. My plan is to change the pickups to a P90 Neck and Splitable humbucker in the bridge (super 70s are 2 wire but I have another pickup I want to put in the bridge anyway...). The guitar originally has a phase switch but im going to use the switch to split the humbucker. My only wonder is whether I should use the switch to switch the bridge to a 250k volume pot when I split it as well...Which brings up a question, does having a 500k vs 250k tone pot make a difference when the pot is on 10 or does it only affect the taper while a volume pot affects the brightness even on 10? And if that is the case would having no tone pots (only volumes) affect the brightness or would it be the equivalent of having tone pots on 10?

Great player and great sustain and unplugged sound. The humbuckers sounds really good too but I would love to hear some single coils in this, unfortunately I'd have to make my own pickguard for it since the replacement pickguards on ebay are ridiculously priced. The routing is also only for H-H so I'd have to rout out the middle if I wanted SSS, but i think a p90 with a splitable humbucker (which i already know sounds great split) will give me a unique and cool sounding guitar ? Can't wait to hear it with a p90!

Didn't Satch start out playing one of these guys and then him and Ibanez designed the JS series from this?

that guitar is a keeper, it will outplay most guitars.

i've got the ibanez blazer 82 bass with a similar headstock, very much a gem.

Im not sure hey, I know this was the start of the RG series, after 86 or 87 the RS became Roadstar Guitar with model numbers starting with RG.

Definitely agree, its hard to put down, it just feels so right in my hands! ?
