So, my amp quest is finally over, in (quite frankly) the most unexpected manner.
I've been shopping around for a while now, and I got it into my head that (after all the 15W/20W etc. amp talk) that the Hot Rod Deluxe is the amp for me (yes I know it's too damn loud ?).
So at Marshall today, I unexpectedly walked out with a new amp, as well as the following bits:
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, "Python Skin" tolex, Celestion V30
Dimarzio Cruiser and AT1 Pickups for my Ibanez AT200, which are the same pickups used in the AT300
Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 Plus
So now, finally, I have everything I need/want (aside from a snazzy Les Paul).
I took my time, played on 5 different amps at Marshall (which Brent set up for me at the same time), from Orange to Hughes & Kettner to Genz Benz to Hiwatt and the Fender took it for me.
The amp absolutely sings, and all my pedals sound amazing with it. I never thought I'd find a use for my Satchurator, but in combination with the amps 2 different drive voicings and its sibling, the Ice 9, I can FINALLY get that thick, satchurated drive tone full of swirly goodness out of my Strat (the TC Flashback is absolutely amazing in the effects loop).
The only thing I can't decide on is the Neunaber or amp reverb. They both sound really good, although the benefit with the pedal is that I can switch it on and off while playing.
I'll take some proper pics of everything this weekend, and I have to record this thing. It really is amazing. ? Many people don't like Fender drive tones but this thing is exactly what I was looking for (tone wise).
