Steven Slate Drums 4.0 + ENGL Fireball = New track!

Well I lied, I didn't use an ENGL Fireball, I used LE456 (a free ENGL vst amp sim). I think the tone is pretty awesome though!

This is the first track where I'm using the new Steven Slate drums software, it's quite slick. There is ZERO processing on drums before mastering.

Bear in mind that I mixed this track on some crappy R150 speakers that I got at incredible corruption - so apologies if the levels are out and if the eq isn't the best. Next month I shall be purchasing myself some decent monitors.

A bit bass heavy on my speakers.I still kills me how everyone gets such decent quality with VST's, my recordings still simply sound "cheap". My tiniest of rants over. Track is a bit repetitive but vocals would obviously help in that record, the main riff was pretty catchy.

Yes it definitely needs vocals, it is a bit repetitive without.

You're right about their being too much bass... the speakers I mixed on have virtually zero bass, playing it on my home theatre system I can hear immediately that the bass is too loud.

Thanks. Currently hooked up with all the "go to" plugins, Nick Crow, kefir + CatharsisIR's, LePou stuff etc but still has that "cheap" feel, I'm obviously missing a bit of something in the mixing and EQ'ing stages.
