nick Firstly after some googling I found how to do this so Im not claiming it as my idea. With now owning a SM57 which does well on vocals in my opinion but lacks a pop filter, I decided to try and make one. What you need: 1.) Crochet/Sewing ring, basically a circular piece of wood that has another piece that fits over it, used for sewing, cost me R15 2.) Ladies black knee high stocking, R12 3.) Black spraypaint (if you dont want it the wood colour), R30 I wrapped the stocking over twice so there is 2 layers each side of stocking, pull over the outer ring and fasten down and done! Will upload pics as soon as the paint dries.
Manfred-Klose i also made one many years ago, and still using it. made it up from other broken stuff, works lekker
AlanRatcliffe Good stuff! I made one like that many moons ago and cannibalized a mic clip to make it mic stand mounted. Worked just as well as the commercially available ones. You can make an even cheaper one using an old fashioned wire hanger too. Looks cruddy, but works just as well. ?
nick Some pics: Two rings split apart and prepared for painting Sprayed and ready for assembly Assembled. Only thing I need to figure out now is how to mount it to the mike stand
nick Adrian Rogowski wrote How do you mount the pop filter to the microphone stand? Havent figured that part out yet, I do have a goose neck lying around. Will try and make some mount for it. Will post pics if I get it right.

The wire bends easily and you place the filter in the right position. Wobbles a bit, but hey it does the job... in studio of course.
