Aww crap, I was hoping for it to be closer to the 20K mark rather than the 10K mark, I was thinking if I can get 15K for both I would let it go but for any less it wouldn't be personally worth it. So it would be around 10-12K for both as a fair deal. In my mind it might be better to hold on to the amp as it has served me well, it sounds amazing and it's all original, as for the loudness issues I use a tube tamer since I don't use any other effects or pedals, my rig has always only consisted of guitar-tuner-amp. It is big, heavy and bulky but it's worth it. All the speakers still sound cool and trust me I have pushed them in the past, I have played tons of gigs with it and recorded quite a few albums with it as well.
I have wondered for years whether the greenbacks are original but never bothered to research them, now I know and it's good news. So the Head is a '75 and the cab a '74, that means they are a good fit together.
Googling the amp, it seems the Head alone is meant to go for around 12k, in fact I can't find any for under $1500.
What you say is very true. Compared to
new valve amps in the stores, your amp and cab is certainly worth at least R15K ......same goes for a vintage AC30 from the 60's. However for some reason these do not fetch those prices at the moment. My estimate is also around R12-15K but if you want to sell it quickly, you'll have to look at R8-10K imho.
And that's a real shame. Just check out Gumtree and Junkmail for example...plenty of great deals there, but the stuff just don't sell.
Keep your amp and cab would be my advice.
