so recently i had to repair a broken truss rod in a cheap chinese bass, had to remove the fretboard, sort out the truss rod, glue back the fretboard and spray the neck, and i thought it might be a good idea to change the headstock to look more attractive.
neck is maple, and a very thin piece of veneer i glued on, i think its mahogany, difficult to tell with the grain of the veneer, i then added an imbuia stain onto the veneer, sanded it down, a little more on the sides to give the illusion of a maple binding, but its infact the back of the neck, stained again, until i got something with character, i then sprayed the neck with clear satin.
i am very pleased with the results
i sanded in a curve into the curve ?
here is the before i sprayed/ sanded pic, i already done the staining here
