The one problem is the price puts them almost in Adam A5 territory - which are awesome small nearfields.

I can second the Tannoys (don't know the JBLs).
I had the RP6's and now have the V6's - the difference is huge.
I went straight from Alesis Monitor 1s (which I've kept, BTW - still great speakers with the right amp) to V8s. A/Bing the RP8s against the V8s, the V8s were the clear winners.
