Listening to Before the Flood - Bob Dylan and the Band. I had it in my collection long years ago(Really enjoy this album).
I love this version of Knocking on Heavens Door and this was one of the first songs that I learned to play on guitar, 4 easy chords and you could just grunt the words ?
I always have a soft spot for this song, even after all the million cover versions and the gazillion times I have heard it. I must have played it at least a million time as well.
Am I strange?
Yes. Very. But not because you have a song stuck in your head.
I have perpetual soft spots for "The Wild Mountain Thyme" and for Steely Dan's "Deacon Blues". It happens. It could be worse. It could be "Ma, He's Making Eyes At Me".
I'm not going to mention the first song I actually learned to play on guitar. These days I think it to be thoroughly awful, and if asked about the guy who sung it I will try hard to give the impression that I never liked his material anyway.
The trouble is, I can still remember the words and the chords. Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone.
I remember Before The Flood well. I bought it because I was a huge Dylan fan. The trouble was that I thought he was not so great on much of it (though he got in a couple of star turns) but I enjoyed The Band and Robbie Robertson's songs hugely. Damn! What kind of fan was I?
"When You Awake" and "Stage Fright" .... a couple more songs that seem to be permanently lodged in my head.
