DDR4LYF I got some diy right angle plugs from Mantech, but they keep crackling when I fiddle with the ends. Does anyone know how to get solder to stick better in these plugs?
Bob-Dubery Make sure that all the pieces you are trying to solder are clean, free of dust, grime, corrosion and any other contaminants that may interfere with the bond. Then tin the wires and plugs seperately before soldering them together. Cleaning things up with a light metal brush, file or sandpaper to get them nice and shiny won't harm anything.
nick If its those chrome looking surface, try sand the finish off, discovered this while trying to resolder humbucker pickup covers and it wouldnt stick.
DDR4LYF I steel wired the surface and then sanded it with fine water sand paper. Seems to have worked! I guess only time and performances will tell... Thanks for the feed back guys.
DDR4LYF X-rated Bob wrote Then tin the wires and plugs separately before soldering them together. Yeah, I do that already, helps a lot!!! Thanks for the messages, they helped.
