[quote author=CDee link=action=profile;u=382 date=1225814184] Hi,

Here's my more Sci-Fi 'ish approach for this week. My first attempt at adding drums.

[quote author=dylan link=action=profile;u=332 date=1225816997] Hi Rene.. Here's my entry.

Got the idea of a murderer's chase and the kill...

[quote author=Norio link=action=profile;u=1 date=1225829094] Seph posted his entry on the forum, so I removed the link and I'm PMing it to you now.

[quote author=Norio link=action=profile;u=1 date=1225829435] I'm not happy with the clipping in some parts but I'm getting better at this recording stuff so I'll eventually fix that :D

My Schlock Horror - I decided to restrict myself to only guitar and bass to create this sound

Renesong's is the most SCARY cause I feel it's gonna snap ? Get goosies lol

Bl-nk

Rene's had the most tension but that plucking was just a bit too distinct. cant imagine it used in a movie... Seph's would stay in the background better and not draw attention away from the scene.
Well done to everyone though

Renesongs

@ Mike A bit of an inside joke - tensioning up new strings usually causes me to break out into a sweat, I once had one attack me when it snapped. ☹

NorioDS

What what awesome entries. Garth's actually gave us a bit of a skrik!

By the way, mine was done with Hydrogen Drum Kit (heartbeat) & Rakarrak (Reverb, echo, delay, maybe harmonizer, don't recall).

The eerie sound came from playing with my volume knob and, now that the comp is over, a cool way to get a scary sound is to use the devil's interval. Google it or Wikipedia it if this is the first time you're hearing about it. I abused it in my entry ?

These comps kick ass. My recording skills have improved already. I'm loving it.

Thank you, Rene, for facilitating this!!

Lol! Me too! I'm scared of doing that these days! Strings can cut, damn it!

NorioDS

Forgot to mention, Dylan your playing in your entry is killer!

Heath

i broke a d the other day tuning up (faulty tuner and i had been drinking) gawd damn did it hurt , left a loverly scar as well

Sean

Great entries guys. My vote is in!

AlanRatcliffe

Excellent entries all round and a tough decision. I ended up voting for Sepheritoh's entry as it's the most cinematic IMHO. Rene - the string thing was a unique approach, specifically a guitarist's nightmare. I once had a .009 gauge implant itself deep in my left hand index fingertip and have been stringshy ever since.

Thanks Norio ?
All the entries were awesome.. gonna be tough to decide. Gonna give them a few more listens throughout the day before voting ?

I was thinking in an effort to help each other, perhaps it should be made a requirement that you include a very short explanation on how you made track.

Nothing overly complicated. Just a quick two line answer.

That way we get to learn, and thus improve. I feel like i've learnt alot by when seeing how the various entrants have chosen to interpret the chosen word for the week. It would help even more if i knew how each one was made.

On a side note, i can only imagine the music which will be coming out of these comps' a year from now.

sepheritoh

Great entries from All!!

I think everybody's recording skills have improved seriously.

I ended voting for Rene as he creates a real great tension. Generally great production everywhere and Dylan's playing is tops.

Thanks everybody for giving us some pleasure.

Could we possible ask everybody to tag their songs before posting it. It just makes it easier when I listen to it on my ipod and rate it. Without propper tagging I have to struggle and figure out later who's who.

I'm really enjoying this chat challenge because it gives me a musical face to some of the people a spent most of my cyber life talking to. It also gives a motivation to brush the cobwebs off my recording equipment once a week.

It would be really cool if everybody entered the Chat challenge at least once. Some people are less confident about their playing abilities others don't have proper recording gear but hell no it's not about that. It's about your ideas and your spirit.
If you played a wonky rendition of three blind mice on an unplugged electric recorded through a cell phone, you would at least get a kama for your effort. In this weeks challenge you would probably get my vote because it certainly would be scary. ?

Spyke

Tough to decide between a few of them. To reiterate what Alan said, Sepheritoh's was very cine.
The guy sitting next to me asked what horror is that that I was watching when I was listening to Norio's piece - so you've nailed it Norio. Perfect association. Well done to all though!

Garth-S

Wow! All the entries are great! I must say its so great to record like this, I think it's really going to improve our skills. This is awesome... Sep, yours could have come straight out of a movie! great stuff man.

Matt-White

Djeez guys!
What scared me most, was the level of these entries. Dont know if I'll attempt it, Rene, mine would have sounded like bat droppings compared to these.
Dylan, are you a fan of vampire movies? Sounds like some action scene out of Underworld!
But they're all amazing... tough decision.

Cant wait too see what next week brings!
