ok re the poll some explanations to the choices
1. introducing keira's new vocalist the lovely sarah kate edworthy this is the very 1st time Sarah- kate and i have played together , and she will be my new vocalist for all my jazz gigs ......it was an impromtu performance.......... and went fabulously well for 1st time out with no rehearsal may i say
2 sound clips from my new archtop guitar i just bought this a while back and loving it .......... it's a epiphone reissue of a 30's epiphone archtop called the emporer regent ..i posted pics a while back but here's some cool audio ........... good enough to hear the guitar in it's intended genre
3. soundclip from my partcaster 40W battery amp a while back i bought a behringer EPA40 and it was too thin sounding so a friend build an open back cab (about same size as a cube 30) and i took the guts and battery (a rechargable) out of the epa , dumped the casing and speaker and added a speaker from an 8" skytec powered pa speaker to it (NOT the horn just the 8" ) so now i have a mobile 40W ,fat sounding amp ..........in a small lightweight package........... and at most of my restaurant gigs i don't even mic it up ....it is loud enough to play over the unmic'd percussion and what blew me away was that the 8" used with the archtop is amazing ........ it has incredible low tone and sounds well 'jazzy" and thats what i want......... i was expecting to put a 10 or 12 into the cab ........ but the 8 (OK it is rated at full range and 80W) is sounding great and above all fat so i'm "not fixing what ain't broke"
4 why one needs to carrry your reading glasses to gigs well like i said this was an unrehearsed gig ......we had charts for everything in her key and i "read" my way through the show ........ but i wear bi focals so in video i was giggling at myself lifting my head in such a way that i could read the charts thru the bottom of my bi focals........... :D thats the downside of getting old and doing unrehearsed gigs.......... sightreading is a bitch when you can't see wiothout your glasses :D very funny and something i'm sure i'll be teased about a lot ..but least at this gig i maybe earned my "jazz or blues" name of "blind keira "
5 Keira sporting her new panama hat i love hats and each guitar has a hat or hats that go with it ...... my acoustic shows normally get beanies or "hippie style" hats , and yes i have a stetson i bought when i bought my tele, but i have to admit i own it but never yet worn it at a gig, then i have a sombrero for my mexican nylon work.........and when i bought the archtop i went out and sourced a genuine panama hat , made in equidor .... in white to match the archtop...........it's the hat that defines the time of archtops the 30's and 40's ..........
so anyway i was confused what to call this post .............it's an intro, a duo demo, a guitar demo an amp demo and i saw the funny side of my short sightedness and love of hats ................
so you decide
