Recording from Behringer UCA222 to PC

Before I start, excuse my ignorance, I am still a noob in regard to recording techniques!

I have been using the following external sound card for recording through a mixer. Guitar into Mixer and then Output into RCA connection of UCA222 into USB on PC

Now I am trying to reduce my recording setup and am trying to go direct from guitar to UCA222 and into pc and make use of Garage Band (mac) or Guitar Rig (pc) built in Amp effects.

I have found that I can go in from Jack (guitar) to RCA (UCA222) and it sounds ok to me!? Is a RCA to jack recording setup a no no or would this be ok? or would it be better to purchase another USB interface that allows for a Jack input?

I could also use the camera connection kit for the IPAD and be able to make use of the Behringer for Ipad 2.

Any input would be appreciated!

there isnt really another way...
If you have a RCA to Jack cable though, you reduce noise!
I found using an adapter that i got unwanted noise introduced!

I now have kirlin RCA to Jack cables!

I am happy with the sound quality i am getting i just suddenly wondered if RCA to Guitar Jack was ok! Or if it was frowned upon in the industry ?

I am so used to using Jack to Jack and this seems a little different. But once again I am a noob when it comes to recording methods ?

If your inputs have enough gain to compensate and are high impedance, you can do it easily enough.

On many interfaces the low Z mic inputs have lots of gain but are the wrong impedance - which means the dynamic and frequency response is skewed so you end up with a very lifeless sound. On the other hand, the line inputs often don't have enough gain and raising the gain in software adds noise.
