Slot cars

Played with a Scalextric set last week at a buddy's place - used to have a huge set in the 90s and forgot how addictive it is. So now I am on a mission to get myself a set, but I've found that its a bit like GAS... there is a R22000 track on Junkmail which fits into a single garage with LED floodlights, adevrtising hoardings etc

Anyone here a fan? I've discovered that there are basically 3 choices - Scalextric, Ninco and Carrera - I'm trying to find out if the tracks/cars are interchangeable as I want to buy a cheap set and then expand on it if I enjoy it.

So that's what a slot car is ?
I thought it was a typo ?

Hahahahaha - um, I used to have one of those too, but then I got married. The sunroof was a winner

Forget Carrera. Personal opinion is that it is cheap commercial crap. We run Ninco tracks and stuff with a mix of Ninco and Scalextric cars. Scalextric cars do kick butt though. Ninco equipment is readily available and of good quality.

Only pic I have of my son's is this. 14m of tracks. ?

This is what it is now...

i took part in a Scalectrix competition a while back, semi finals and stuff, after not playing with it for for many years, i won the competition. it funny how quickly you pick up on something again

scalectrix addiction is just like GAS, you walk into the shop to buy 1 car, you walk out with 3

Do they still have the awesome track at santarama miniland? I think it was like a ten lane or something!

Thanks guys! Lord Farquart - I like that setup! Like I said though, mine will be very small to start with but yea, a slot car version of GAS is, I am sure, also very likely. But cool, I'll forget Carrera, but can Scalextric tracks be added to a Ninco set and vice versa? I believe Ninco is rougher... but are they compatible?

:-\ But that video... I cant even see what is going on.

Don't think you can mix tracks.

Oh great.
I'd forgotten all about this kind of fun and now its back.
Now i'll have to find my set ( read the evil thing that ate my pocket money)
If i remember right the scalectrix cars where bigger, i.e. Wider tracks so the slots dont match up.

Or you can sell it to me and get into her good books? Then you'll have an excuse to come round with beers for a jam and a race! ?

Lead me not into temptation.
Win win.
Now that sounds like a plan.
