  • Buying used from Musiciansfriend

So I wanna get my hands on a Roland Juno-Gi Keyboard. They are extremely expensive in SA (12k+), on eBay they go for about 9k (excluding extra costs) and today I saw on MusiciansFriend they sell theirs used for about 6k - FREE SHIPPING! Obviously the other customs costs will be added and so on, but it seems like a steal to me. Condition 2 which is "Gently Used" with "Minor signs of use on some keys."

What do you think of buying used sight unseen, I'm not sure if it's worth the risk.
I've bought a few items from thereincluding my krank amp
Had no issue, the products arrived exactly as described

Im waiting for 1 special item to come n, should be next week from them ?

All the packages have always arrived by me in properly seeled boxes and

Make sure it has a 240v power supply
The free shipping is legit. They use UPS Mail Innovations. I've also recently bought an used amp off of Musician's Friend. I had a slight hiccup with the amp being returned to them by UPS for some unknown reason (I suspect that they couriered it incorrectly). Second time round it went smoothly... 6 Days from receiving the notification that it had been shipped until it arrived at my front door. The tracking number they gave me never worked though, so it was a bit scary not knowing where the amp was. No Vat or other customs charges were levied because it is a second hand item.

As F2R mentioned make sure that it is capable of handling 240v or that you can get a 240v power supply locally.
Would you all recommend buying guitars from them?

Reading through their details wrt to International Shipping - they make mention that Free Shipping is not applicable on international orders.

So I'm a bit weary of that and that rikus has mentioned he indeed got gear shipped for free...

We will estimate shipping to your country, but you will be responsible for any duties or taxes associated with the delivery of goods along with any additional brokerage that may apply for complex customs-clearance procedures.

Free shipping offers are not valid for international orders.
This free shipping offer is not a standard offer on their goods like their free shipping for local customers. Its a special being run till Sunday only, and it is indeed for International orders as well.
Do you know if the free shipping applies to items that under $150 as-well?

              Thanks for that.
Throws me out then ☹ Was wanting to do something around payday ?

Scorched, I don't think so. See this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pages/such-a-deal?icid=200357

                I might be wrong!

Good news..if anyone is interested, their Free Shipping Special has been extended to 18 March.
I had a few experiences that if i purchased 1 item I had to pay for shipping but iif iI added another small item I qualified for free shipping.

I bought an amp then added a pack of strings then got free shipping...

I also noticed if an order is over $500 it instantly qualifies... this was without putting in any ccoupon ccode
Cool it's here! I received a call today and they want me to pay VAT, I thought USED items do not qualify for VAT? It was like 1k.

Anyway, it's delivering on Monday ?

But still wondering about the VAT, I'm not so familiar with how this works?
Im getting a problem in that it says: "One or more of the items you have selected are unable to ship to the Ship To Address you entered. Please, edit your shopping cart, change your ship to location, or call us at 800-449-9128 for assistance. If you are calling from an international location, please call +1 (801) 501-8110."

:/ what do I do, I really wanna order ☹

They only ship used items Internationally. But don't write it off immediately, the "used" stuff they sell are taken actual pictures off as well as a description that includes any "imperfections". "Mint" (Condition 1) items are literally as good as new (returned because a previous buyer didn't like the sound or whatever).

May I add that if there's anything wrong with it, you can take it back within 45days and they pay return shipping. Only if there's something physically wrong though.
AH! That makes sense then ? Thanks ?

I thought so too when I bought my "demo" Canteri. I made sure Luca marked it clearly as used, but to no avail - I raised a query and a dude from "the hub" at the airport in Kempton called me to explain that VAT was indeed payable on used items as well - a neat R2800. It sucks...

The only way you won't pay anything is if you bring it in from overseas, don't declare it at customs and they let you through.
Very strange... my used amp I bought recently from musician's friend was delivered straight to my door... no extra fees of any sort. It definitely went through customs as it had been opened and retaped with "inspection" tape.

Lucky.. I'm certainly going to investigate this.. I was sure that used items get past - maybe I'm wrong.

? Well it certainly looked like it could have fallen from a truck along the way by the time that I got it:

                                    That doesn't look like a Roland Juno-Gi Keyboard's box? ?

ahem... I'm the dude who ordered the Roland :? - it's here on Monday, amped!
