So I had the idea of finding a cash crusaders special and sticking an old pickup in the soundhole and turning it into my dirty blues acoustic slide guitar ala Jack White style. So after informing a mate of mine of this notion he quickly sped off home to pick up his "old crappy acoustic" that was soon to be thrown in the trash.
To my surprise he came back with beautiful looking albeit beat-up hofner classical with half and half nylon and steel strings, which apparently used to belong to his grandmother and now had no use as no-one else in their family plays guitar (they are all violin and piano players).
After some research I have managed to assume that it is a Hofner 514 classical (pre-1968) sold in London under Selmer as the "Hofner Flamenco". I dont think that it is worth a lot (in monetary value) but the vintage factor and the uniqueness of it have me infatuated with my new playing partner. ?
I know that these threads are about as useful as a tart at a vicors teaparty without any photos, but she is in the shop having a service and getting the bridge fixed. Will hopefully get her back this afternoon and will then upload some pics.
In the meantime here is a link from the hofner site :
