Cleaning Tweed Cloth

so this fender pro junior 15watt has been standing for 10+ years in a dirty garage, because its not working.

............thats until i walked into the garage.
i think i can be very sure when i say that this is the dirtiest amp ever!!!!

My first concern is to clean the tweed cloth.

What i have tried so far:
*Used a steam cleaner that helped get most of it out, about 50%
*after that i tried a little bit of diluted sunlight liquid(lemon one), and it also helped to get it a little more cleaner

This take a very long time to do.

does anyone else have any other ideas of things i could try that wont damage the cabinet ?

ok so i found something that seems to work, it doesn't clean all the black oily parts, but it sure brings back the tweed color

Geez! That's some serious abuse for a relatively recent amp. Kudos on all the hard work -I think I would have just recovered it.

yeah i know its amazing what a dirty garage can do in 10 years.

Zohn just stay away from a garage ?

to get smell and overall dirt out, you can use a steam gun
for just minor cleaning, sunlight liquid with lemon diluted with water will work.

i read on the other forums that people even have the tweed nitrolaquered

Scotchguard? Would that work?

Hi Guys, I have just sucessfully Scotchguarded a tweed case. Warning, it took a whole can and removed the paint in the manufacturer's brass logo tag. Next time I'll mask it off before spraying. As for durability, that has still to be tested by the first klutz that spills their rum and coke ! !

@Z, If I remember correctly it was my local PnP. Otherwise most hardware stores should have it.
