Thoughts on...

Went to watch Josie Field last night at Tanz last night... I think my evening was ruined by listening to Counting Crows before the gig. Because as it turned out... the opening band and Josie were all doing the same chill vibe... too much chill for me.

So what are your thoughts on Josie Field? The drummer and the bassist were pretty cool. That bassist was in a world of his own twirling around but feeling every note.... that was cool to see. Drummer is kind of animated... reminds me of one time Sting drummer (which reminds me... Sting next month!!! Woohoo!!).

Then had a drink at a place down the road from there, can't remember what its called (but IceCreamMan can tell you) and got to see Arno playing. Never thought in my old age (and tonally set ways) I'd be shocked by someone getting a killer drive out of a zoom pedal before... but he managed to. Doesn't mean I'll buy one though... one shocker is enough in a year for me.

Probably more in the fingers and the Albion Amp than the zoom pedal ?

^ Dunno bout that so much hey... drive still comes from the pedal... nice sound from the amp though. Would have liked to have heard it without the zoom magic.

a further derail... Arno.. I wanna hear a gig without the zoom magic. Or at least one song, hehehe.

the further further derail.... In Flames next weekend!!! Woohoooo!

The place is called Cornerhouse, we're there every Thursday. Where did you vanish to? Wanted to buy you a beer and have a bit of a chin wag...As you saw, I was using the 35 watt head and cab last nite. I don't have the foot-controller for it cos its a loaner, but next week I'm getting my 50 watt combo back and I do have the controller for that. I have played around with just the amp and allthough I think it sounds good (you gotta crank it way up though), for convenience sake I stick to the zoom when playing live. However, if you insist..

Ok cool... when my friend feels like milf hunting again, we'll come through. We'll grab a drink and chin wag then. But its not a necessity though (with the unplugging just for me)... that place scared me. Too many ol tannies who claim to be "37" yet look way older than us... and no youngens. But at least the aunties can party.

One aunty wants me to teach her 3 year old how to play guitar (thanks to my awesomely drunk friend for spilling the beans)... How does one turn it down without insulting the mother? I already said no... but she insists "oh she is so clever and holds the guitar like normal... she's so clever"... "you said that twice" ... "I know... cos she's so bright and can do anything"... "way to go on changing clever to bright... almost missed it in my drunken slur. You forget I live in Krugersdorp"... "So? We can come over and I'll introduce you to her slowly and kjhkfjgkjhdafgjkhdfjkhdafg (<--- thats what it sounded like as Arno was doing a solo to a Floyd track)"

Well, seeing as the thread title is "thoughts on"... may as well be a diary. Don't think she heard my "I don't like little nappycrappers... they crap themselves in lessons"... she nodded and said "ok, so we'll do it soon" :O Deaf in their old age *cough*

But yeah man... I'll try make it over soon.

*Yeah, was good meeting you too ICM*
