Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of building a simple passive high-shelf filter, to be placed in pedal form between the output of a multi-effects processor and the input of an amp and to see wheter I can roll off some that ultra-high fuzzy/glitchy top end (6Khz and upwards) that is so annoying when you use distortion/saturation on a multi-effects processor.
Hadley Hockensmith (Koinonia) makes something like this and calls it the "Harmonic Converger"
http://harmonicconverger.com/HC_Home.html. Although he adds a blend pot that blends the unaffected signal with the filtered signal at the end, this is apparently nothing more than a high shelf filter and is a hotly debated topic on US guitar forums since its a very basic non-active circuit that he is selling for about 285 USD.
I probably need a capacitor (.022 to 0.47microfarad ??) in series with the hot lead, and a trim pot (250 to 500KOhm ??) between hot and ground. The idea is to get away from a 4-wire setup and to go directly into the front input of a guitar amp, thus preamp into preamp. I'm sure there are gurus here that can shed more light . . . . . . Alan? Matta? ?
