vasbyt bud, I ordered some rare car parts from the US off egay and one pack pitched up in 10 days and the other one didn't. I pretty much gave up on it and made other plans, then out of the blue 3 MONTHS LATER!!!!!!........it just pitched up.
I used USPS and was able to track it till the US border and that gave me an idea of when if left. Apparently it sat on top of a desk for 3 months as they suspected that it was couterfeit parts, when it was decided that it wasn't, then they let it go.
That's insane!!! Although not too surprising either, I work in shipping , and well, Customs...well, best I not say too much...haha
Just out of interest, which shipping method was used for your car parts, First Class or Priority International?
For the part that I bought, the shipping method on the listing said that it would be shipped via USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate Box and in addition to that, the following was part of the item description (this is a copy/paste from the listing itself):
"International Buyers/Bidders - We used to ship International items by USPS First Class Mail to save on shipping costs. We am
[sic]now switching to USPS Priority Mail due to problems with shipments & the lack of tracking information on First Class. Our apologies for the higher expense."
With Priority International, you can track the shipment on USPS' website until it leaves the US. Once it is in SA, you just need to contact the Joburg Int'l Mail Center, give them the USPS tracking number and they give you a local T/N. I did this with my parcel from Stew-mac, took only 11 days to get here.
Anyway, after spending hours on the phone, I actually found out from USPS that the parcel had in fact been sent via First Class, which is not trackable and in the customer service agent I spoke to's own words, "has no time frame". So I am pretty livid with the seller...
