Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity

To obtain a humbucking mode of operation from two single coils, the one must be RWRP, right?

Is there any other way around this if a RWRP pickup is not available but you really want that specific model?

2 neodymium mags, reverse the magnet's polarity and then just wire it in reverse electrical phase.

Should work, if you have the strong Neo magnets used for charging polepieces. One pass to demagnetise them, another to recharge them.

You can possibly flip the magnets that are already there, but as the coils are wound directly on the magnets in most Fender style single coils and the coils are potted, there is a very real chance of breaking the coil.

Just a question! I purchased a Seymour Duncan pick-up APS1 Alnico11 Pro-Pick-up (Strat) as a bridge pick-up for my Strat and found that the second string is softer than the rest of the strings, also noting that the second pole is lower than the rest! This is frustrating and have change string gauges to counter the problem to no avail! Is this a normal problem and if so what is the answer?

? Are you sure the string radius at the bridge is alright?

The second is supposed to be lower than the others - unwound strings put out more power than wound strings. The problem is actually your third is loud because it is "vintage staggered" - for a wound third string and you are using an unwound. You can raise the treble side up and drop the bass which works for the first string, but you can't get the second closer without making the third even louder.

The best way to cope with it is to lower the pickup, which helps even out string to string balance at the expense of some power and a worse signal to noise ratio. it also means the other two pickups have to drop to keep the pickup balance the same, so it's not an ideal solution.

I have pushed the third string lower poles before (with success on a set of CS69s I had), but it's a tricky one as mentioned above - the possibility of breaking the coil wire is ever present (I have broken as many pickups doing this as I've had success). I heat the polepiece to melt the potting wax around it and push it down with a drill press.
