Internet Radio Stations

Well since most of us (on GFSA anyway) have an alrighty Internet Connection, I've been wondering if there are any South African Rock/Alternative/Metal/Indie/Whatever Internet Radio stations that are willing to support local artists a bit more than most of the classic SA stations?

Does anyone know of any? ?

Leon puts on a fantastic show and gives a lot of background info on the musicians, which makes it all the more interesting, pity their radio signal is not as strong as I struggle to pick it up in my car sometimes. :yup:

PLUS they do play local artists, try contact them and send them a demo.

I was actually thinking of starting an Internet Radio Station. I do have the knowledge to do this and it seems that there isn't really many in South Africa that work on a "submit your music and if it's good, we'll play" basis. It would also be cool if listeners can request them and so on.

Kind of like http://www.untappedradio.com (US) but with local artists.

Do you guys think this can work with the right marketing techniques? Interviewing a few "big names" in the industry should get it going.

I tune in to Mix FM until 9AM. When Tony Blewitt's show is over, I switch to Tuks FM. In the car I also listen to Mix FM in Joburg, but when I go past New Rs, I change to Tuks.

+1. Good platform for Cape Town based artists. Regularly get them into studio for interviews, etc.
