Is there something in the water?

joealien22

I have recently been playing (and learning) lots of fingerstyle guitar and I also just finished building my amplified wooden stompbox (which is an absolute gem). This has led me to doing some youtube research into the use of both of them.
In the course of my investigations and research I have discovered that...

...there must be something in the water in Aussie land that produces such mind-blowing solo acoustic talent.

John Butler Trio, Tommy Emmanual, Xavier Rudd, Gotye, Ash Grunwald...etc

Most of em are great multi-instrumentalists as well, playing a host of instruments and incorporating them into their songs.
Also cool to see that Xavier Rudd jamming with Izintaba in his latest album.

I got to get me some of that water ?

I'll bet you couldn't tell one from the other in a blindfold test.

there is alot of multi talented musos in our country as well, you just need to look a little bit harder for them.

Yeah I know. As soon as I posted this I thought to myself we must have our own special water to produce the likes of Steve Newman, Tony Cox, Greg Georgiades, Oliver Mtukudzi, and so on. :-[
Ive just been listening to loads of the Australian roots kinda music.

I will try post some pics sometime soon. Might as well finally get off my keester and finally take those gear pics Ive been meaning to take.

I think there is quite a passion for guitar playing over there - maybe they have a culture of good teaching methods etc. ?

Squonk

don't forget Michael Fix, also a good fingerpicker

Malkav

Let's not forget Brett Garsed, one of the greatest fusion players ever to set foot on this planet and possibly the most amazing hybrid picker alive ?

I am very very familiar with Gambale ? There's actually an album out called Centrifugal Funk that features Brett Garsed, Frank Gambale and Shawn Lane - It's under the Mark Varney Project, probably one of my favourite fusion albums of all time ?
