Great gig.
Obviously no members of this forum were there, why would guitarists want to see South African bands and great musicians in action when there's rugby on TV. :? ?
Two forum members played yesterday, Peter Hanmer and Arno West (Alter-Irving).
Alter-Irving played first, great band, Arno on guitars.
Got to love Cindy Alter, still rocking big time after so many years in the business, great voice, great sense of humour, great personality...RESPECT!!!
Next was forum member Peter Hanmer, Ghapi on drums & vocals, Rochelle Rautenbach on bass, Danny Rautenbach on guitars.
Some brilliant guitar duo's from Peter and Danny, great vocals & drumming from Ghapi, the band rocked big time and stole the show away from Ken Hensley.
Yep, the South African bands stole the show.
Looks like Peter and Ghapi's band will be getting together and doing some future gigs, so great was the response from the audience at yesterdays show.
Hey Tokai, why didn't you come and introduce yourself? I guess next time then...
About the gig - Great venue for sound and lighting, I wish every venue had a house system and lights like that, but and this is a big BUT, no alcohol were allowed and that put a slight damper on the mood of the crowd. Luckily Greg P, ex-Diamond Dogs guitarist, smuggled in a cooler box for us, so he was our hero of the day...
