Silly things we do... Cell-phone ear training

PeachyDragon

I'm sure I'm not the only nut here... Many of you might have seen ads
for ear training courses in magazines and there's a specific one I purchased
which is great for relative and perfect pitch... anyhow, I've been trying to get
through it on and off for years(I have very slow ears). So lately I had this stupid
brainwave that I implemented a few days ago... I changed all my blackberry tones
to custom ones... this includes bbm, whatssap, facebook app, facebook messenger, sms
and email notifications.

What did I replace them with? ridiculous electric guitar intervals and harmonies... quite simple.
The trick is for me to get familiar with intervals I might have become rusty with. After
all, I hear the notifications 100's of times a day. Now I need to hear what interval it is
to know what notification it is... I can cheat though. For instance the minor 7 interval has a dominant
chord resolution in the harmony so that one is a bit unique.

Here are two examples of my insanity. Augmented triad and Major7.
The major 7 is a better example. It's second on the page. Click it to play it.

Great Idea

I have also customized all my ringtones with entries that I have done for the comps on GFSA
We had to do an Indian Ringtone and I use this for my main ringtone

Thanks... when I'm under pressure to work the notifications start to freak me out though...
I constantly feel like my life is part of the intro to Good Company by Queen. I literally mean
only the first 3 to 6 seconds.

This song was intended to sound like a jazz guitar band... hence the banjos and
the guitars mimic trombones etc... it's pretty amazing. There's a breakdown of
it on one of the DVD's I bought.

Lol, the song is ridiculous in that good brings-a-smile-to-your-face kinda way... I can only
imagine the reactions you get when it rings in an elevator.
