Just spent a week with some of SA's finest muso's

I was invited to fly over from UK to play in a band for my friends 40th birthday party. My friend Jim Faulds has been writing again and put a band together to play his recent songs at his party.

Was lucky enough to perform with Schalk Joubert (bass), Barry Van Zyl (drums) and Shannon Hope (keys and vocals). The gig was in Cape Town (Glencairn) and I just got back to UK with a head full of thoughts and some renewed enthusiasm for guitar and music. Was very good indeed.

Also had a chance to spend some time with Barry and Shannon in a studio together with Sean Ou Tim AKA 'Mr Sakatumi' on bass. (Mr Sakatumi also performed at said party and rocked with his one man show!)

Very crazy 6 days in beautiful Cape Town with some truly good musicians.

Finally if you get a chance to see Shannon Hope live you really should make the effort as she is something special !

Met and saw Shannon perform for the first time a few months ago and was suitably impressed. She's the full house - can play, sing and write as well as being intelligent and good looking.

Great stuff... trust the equipment situation was sorted for you? Glencairn is just down the road from me, we play at the Viper Lounge there every now and then. Is that a stage in a house?

Yes the pedals worked great thanks guys. I took TS9 (Keeley), Dano Vibe and Tremelo + Boss DD3. Used my friends CLapton Strat which is truly a beautiful thing and quite possibly the best strat I have played (and I own several!)! Amp was Peavey Classic 30 which was fine.

The venue was the Bay Cafe (I think eating area) which is the pic you see. It was closed off for the private party.

And finally people I have to say how much I love Cape Town, this time we stayed on the other side of the mountain in Noordhoek which is just like the 'Shire'. Love it!

Shannon Hope is playing two shows in Jozi in the coming week.

Wednesday 22nd she's at oDD cAFE in Greenside.

Friday 24th she's at the Bioscope in Maboneng precint.
