I was looking at one of my first posts on the forum a few years ago and realised that I probably should do an update.

What my Gear was:

Wow, this forum has cost me a lot of money ... ? ? ?

I will start with my electrics for now:

Awesome updates! Getting there, eh? Now I understand why you would want to move the Japanese Sea Foam Strat...

On the Kirn - IMO those paua topped knobs are just a bit too OTT. Draws attention away from the great wood and with the busy top and pickguard, adds up to just that little bit too much "bling". Black Fender-style FTW.

Also how are those Fralin split rails? I haven't tried them yet...

I agree on the Paua topped knobs Alan, I just haven't got around to changing them. I will do so in the next few weeks and post another pic when done. These are the only aspect that for some reason Ron didn't follow my request but most likely forgot.

I really enjoy the Fralin Split Rails - enough "quack" to suit me but added body and midrange. A much more "full bodied" sound which is very versatile for me. I guess one could say somewhere between a single coil and a HB. The '57RI will get Kinmans (maybe the 54 Impersonators?) when I recover from the Bashkin build ?, but I would be aiming for more vintage sounding but noiseless single coils. One more electric to go - probably a Thinline type then I'm done... I think.

Thx Vic. The pic doesn't do it justice as it is a lovely creamy blonde. It has a few minor "character dings" on the back and side which I don't mind at all.

My 10c worth (and I might have to run after saying this) They are all gorgeous and I would give my left nut (that's not an offer) for most of them...but not the turqois one man, respectfully said...that should never have been made. Its like making a pink 4x4...like I say only my opinion...don't stone me... ?

I'm also not a seafoam green kind of guy. In fact the only solid colours that I really like are candy apple red and pearl white - I'm too much of a wood fan to want it covered up by a solid finish.

Sorry for the slight 'ooh squirrel!' here. I saw a solid perspex (see-through) guitar in a shop quite a while ago...like...before I was bothered to check brand names (although considering this guys love for Fenders, it was likely, but then he also sold used equipment), anyway my question is....good or bad?
