bought myself a Seymour Duncan "Quarter Pounder Staggered" yesterday
put it in the neck position.... followed the instructions ,
white to switch , and black to volume
well it sounds good on the 1st position (neck)
2nd position sounds all funny and thin , almost like only some treble frequencies are coming through
3rd position and the rest are alll the same as it was earlier (obviously)
does this mean its possibly out of phase?
and if i swop em , how would that make the 1st position sound?
I split this topic off by itself. (Norio can it be moved to the Tech forum?)
Yes, it's out of phase. Easy enough to fix - just swap the two wires from the pickup around, so black will go where the white is now and vice-versa.
BTW, The Quarter pounders are more commonly used to beef up the bridge position of a Strat. I also count switch positions from the other side, so position one for me is the bridge pickup alone.
I would put the quarter pounder in the bridge. Out of phase sounds are cool sometimes 😀
ok fair enough, counting from the bridge makes more sense
