Write a 2min or less piece of music for a modern Kung Fu Spaghetti Western type movie. It's almost high noon in desert ghost town and there is an imminent duel between two samurai warriors facing off against each other. One is fighting for the forces of pure unadulterated evil, the other......... er.......honor perhaps? Oh....the girl's virtue! That's it! Please mark your entries A, I or B . I've written a 'back story' (see extract below), have a chord progression in mind, but I just havn't gotten around to getting down onto disk and playing around with it. I hope to get to it this week, but a few extra days would be real useful...(Perhaps 27th Feb?- gives me a extra sunday to try harder - this weekend is a complete write off :-\)

--Start--
Scene opens on an almost deserted main street. A slight wind disturbs the dust in the street, making the scene a bit hazy in the noon sun

The camera stops on a figure dressed in black robes, a long thin katana drawn in left hand, death on his blade, dripping with the whole town's blood (there's a reason why the town is freshly deserted).

A tearing sound causes the man in black to turn around.

The camera whips around to focus on a man in red formal suit, a bright shining katana in his right hand and death in his eyes. Clenched in his left fist, a blood stained white piece of cloth flutters in the breeze.

Their eyes meet, you hear the swords tear the air...yet neither has moved.

Thanks HWC, I'm also a big fan of the genre - I'll be looking for a copy tonite! If I don't make the deadline, I'll still post my efforts with the 'short story', if only for the fun of the exercise.

I was thinking black for death, red for protection and white for purity as the symbolic colours.

Okiedokie so mine is done and dusted. I'm a bit confused with these volume levels though because I feel it's on the soft side but if I boost it at all I get clipping. No worries, it's done and I'm quite pleased with the end result. Now starts that agonising wait where I'm curious to hear all the other entries. I hope there are lots of other entries.

I was going to suggest a Delta Blues to make it somewhat easier for everyone ( not that real and authentic Delta blues is easy really...... ) but Tamla's idea was a good one so I went with it as I am a big fan of this type of stuff. What is great about this style is anyone can whip something up that fits......especially the surf music dudes who have had categories like metal and such come their way for a while. This should level the playing field a bit.

Oh you know it. At the end of the day we are all winners. :? --> Off topic: Ever noticed how that quote is only ever used by the coach of the rugby team who lost on the particular day? If I had to cast my mind back to the days in school when I played rugby, I don't think our coach ever told us "Ons is almal wenners" or "Manne, vandag het rugby geseëvier" on the days when we actually won a game. No, those quotes were reserved for the days where we got our arses whipped - as Hammeron is about to have happen to hers ?

Not happy with recording yet...struggling with technique, trying something a bit beyond my fingers ☹

but if we've got till midnite tonite, reckon I can get something interesting (if a bit rough) up.

Well okay Deefstes....since you put it like that and are bending my arm so stoutly.......... I snuck one in. However, I must warn you...... ? .....I did this in the last 3 and 1/2 hours. Composed, tracked, mixed, mastered and uploaded to Box. So you get the picture.......... ? It was a bit of a gedoente to rush it like that.....my bad for leaving everything to the last minute. Well, ek kan nie worry oor die mix nie....ek het nie genoeg tyd nie, om mooi te maak.

Okay....that's the first time in 35 years I have tried to speak/write die taal. Did I 1/2 way get it....LOL!!!! ?

I actually had given up on entering this month as much as I wanted to. All my plans to go in the studio this week fell flat and I have had so much to do. Today I forced myself to go to the gym and I was going to try get in the studio after that....but nooooo! Wifey had other ideas. Told me to make dinner for the family. Well, I gave her the finger wag and said.... >☹ "don't you ever TELL me to make dinner again. Next time you ask and ask nicely". Then I ran!!!! ? So I made baked ricotta cheese stuffed pasta shells, smothered in Paul Newman's Marinara sauce, baked breaded chicken breast and a vegetable medley with butter and herbs, some garlic salt......mmhmhhmmmhmm!!

Good stuff if I might say so myself.........and then right after dinner I pissed her off again, enough that she told me to bugger off to my studio, to get lost. ? ? ? LOL!!!!! Worked like a charm. :roflmao: :dance: Trouble is, I am not certain where I am sleeping tonight? The couch perhaps? In the doghouse with my GoldenDoodle?

I snuck mine in @ 22h45 - by not redoing a few tracks :-\
