Poll: Saddest song of all time

According to the Telegraph it's REM's "Everybody Hurts" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/9051673/REMs-Everybody-Hurts-voted-most-depressing-song-of-all-time.html I find it a bit of an unsatisfying thing actually. They say that "84 per cent of men men aged between 18 and 24 have become tearful to music", but that's not really the same as finding the piece of music in question to be sad or depressing. The headline talks about the most depressing song of all time, but the survey asks us to consider the saddest song. "Sad" and "depressing" are not the same thing. Finally the actual poll only presents us with a list of well known (in the western world) pop songs. Maybe it has to be that way. You can't list every obscure sad song of all time.

I might have missed them, but I reckon these two need to be here:

Perfect Day - Lou Reed
Mad World - Gary Jules

Mannemarak

=
Bob Seger and the Silver bullet band - Like a Rock

Not necessary sad if you did what you always wanted, but if you rue missed opportunities when you were younger it can get sad ?

Another sad Bob Seger is Coming Home from the Distance Album. It's the song right at the end of the Album and one I only recently start to play more and reflect on. Brilliant lyrics (as always by Bob Seger) I still regard Bob Seger as the greatest songwriter of all time ( he is the most recorded songwriter of all time) . To think he has been recorded by everyone form Metallica to Kenny Rodgers.

I love like a rock, the solo by Rick Vito (I think) Is too beautiful for words.
