But...I don't really like fuzz at all...Maybe it's a taste thing. But I see so many guitarists going ape about fuzz. About how cool it is and how they can't live without it. But I just don't get the hype about fuzz. What is the deal with fuzz?

Many people do not get fuzz. Just like many people do not get the appeal of fine wine ?

You're not alone in that - I can get it when (some) other people use it, but it doesn't work for me.

I never really liked fuzz either until I heard John Mayer's use of it in his Crossroads lesson. That tone sort of gave me a taste for it.

See that argument doesn't work, cause I like fine wine, but don't like fuzz ?

What sort of music do you like? If you like anything from bands like Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, The Raconteurs, The Black Keys, Wilco, The Rolling Stones or even U2 (Vertigo anyone?), then you would have been exposed to fuzz tones and being guilty by association you would like some fuzz tones. ?
